Eleanor Uttley is a Solicitor and Director of the firm, and she specialises in both Residential and Commercial property transactions, along with Wills, Power of Attorney and Probate.
When did you join Lancashire Law?
I first joined Lancashire Law as a work experience student back in 2015. I was then offered a position of office junior throughout my university studies. I then subsequently progressed to Legal Secretary, Paralegal, Trainee Solicitor, Solicitor and now Director from summer 2024. There isn’t a role at the firm that I haven’t done!
What made you want to qualify as a solicitor?
I have known that I have wanted to be a Solicitor for as long as I can remember! Whilst my mum and dad would say that this was due to my love for arguing, I would say I have always had a desire to help people through difficult situations in their life. Whether that be moving house or determining how to deal with their estate through their Will. I have always loved to support people when they need it most.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
The most rewarding aspect of my job is being able to assist clients reach their goals. Whether that be buying their dream property or helping build their portfolio of commercial/residential properties. I thoroughly enjoy being able to assist people in achieving something that they have worked towards for a long time.
What does your typical day look like?
I split my time between both our Todmorden and our Milnrow branches. One of the most interesting parts of my job is that no two days are ever the same! My time can be spent seeing clients in face-to-face appointments, dealing with particularly complex transactions, or attending hearings with clients.
Who has inspired you most in your life?
It’s difficult just to name one! My parents, my two sisters, my partner Andrew, all my grandparents, my lovely friends and my fantastic colleagues – just to name a few. I have always been surrounded by amazing and hardworking people who have all contributed to help me get to where I am today.
How do you like to relax away from work?
Away from work, I enjoy following my beloved football team, Burnley FC. I am a season ticket holder and try to get on as many games as possible. I also love to spend my time with my family, including my Cockapoo, Daisy – who you will often find running downstairs to greet clients in our Milnrow reception!
What has been your biggest achievement?
My biggest achievement has been supporting Overgate Hospice. When my grandma Val passed away there in 2015, I always wanted to carry on her legacy somewhat in supporting their fantastic work. I have partaken in a skydive and colour runs to support them personally and we now work closely with them as a firm, supporting them with the Overgate Make a Will month that is running throughout November.
